How to sync your files with BTSync

Tired of having to download your files via FTP every time you need them?
Well, we have a good alternative for syncing your files from the seedbox to your local PC or even to your mobile device.

BTSync has been around for a while but it didn’t get the popularity it deserves. It has a similar functionality with popular apps like dropbox, but it doesn’t require your email address to get started.

So let’s start syncing files.

Step 1 -Starting with BTsync

Open up a browser on your local PC or mobile device, then enter the following URL: http://yourseedboxIP:8888 (For example http://111.222.333.444:8888) and log in using the “admin” as username and password.

When you are logged in, a start page will be visible.

Step 2

Click on “Add folder” to choose which folders from your seedbox you want to sync. By default, you will be on the “root” folder. Just browse through the folders and go to home > user. You should see your Torrents, Downloads folders or any existing folders you are using on your seedbox. When you have chosen a folder, it’s good to generate a secret code so you can limit access to your files. Only those who has this code can sync your files from the seedbox to a local machine.

After you have added a folder, you can still view the secret/QR code by pressing the “Secret/QR button on the dashboard.

Step 3

Now let’s install BTSync on your local PC or mobile device. Choose the appropriate installer based on your OS here.

Download and install BTSync. During the installation process, you can choose “Standard set-up” so you’ll start with zero folders. If you need to check the official installation guide, click here to view it from their website. Once you are done with the installation, start adding folders you want to sync.

On BTSync window of your local PC or mobile device, click on “Add a Sync folder”. On the “folder secret” space provided, paste the secret code of the folder on your seedbox you want to sync. On the “folder to sync”, choose any folder on your local PC or mobile device where the files from your seedbox will be placed. Click ok and sync will start.

The progress can be viewed on both the webUI dashboard and the BTsync window.

Step 4

Drag and drop files on your chosen folders to synchronize them. You may add other folders to Sync if you’re interested.
